MY NEW SET UP

Just got it in from 52spitroast.com. Can't wait to use it superbowl sunday. Doing a 50lb pig on it. Anyone ever use one like it? tips? LINK

Inject the pig
Fix it firmly to the spit. The four prong shite on the end won't be enought to keep a big pig stable. Use non galvanized wire to further secure the pig.
Get your coals hot and placed out. If you hold your hand right under the pig, you should feel comfortable holding it there no more than 5 seconds, but that may be slightly different depending on rotation speed.
Baste or don't. It isn't important IMO.

I have read on some sites that you should score the skin of the pig. true or false?

It will split on its own if you don't score it.
