It's not quite white gold anymore. They only get $.35-$.50/lb for the small shrimp now and around $1.50/lb for the big ones.

They used to get more money for shrimp when my family had a dock 30 years ago. By the way, the shrimp dock with the Vietnamese lady (Long is her name-not sure how to spell it), used to be my family's seafood dock for about 25 years.
