Even though we share many of the same thoughts on the BCSNCG, I wish his desire to show people he can block would have been on display more in his time at LSU.

Obviously, we didn't ask him to catch many balls, but route running and blocking should have been on full display. And I'm sure the people paid to see such things have an ample supply to choose from.

It's not what I do for a living, but as an over-indulged hobby, I can tell you he better show immaculate hands, or serious improvement in the other categories, to get what he feels is deserved.

With better QB play, Peterson might have had a few more catches but not many. For the most part, LSU is not to blame for his lack of production or failing to showcase his abilities. The criticism of Peterson is that he has good hands, runs decent routes but does not get great separation, and is a serviceable blocker at the college level, but his skill set at tight end is not exceptionally good in any area. He seemed to really struggle against Bama in the BCSNC. Maybe because he called Bama's LBs too big and slow to keep up with him. If he has a good NFL combine, he could get drafted in the 4th through 6th rounds based on his athleticism and potential. For him to make it in the NFL, he will have to catch everything thrown to him.

In my opinion only, he probably should have been redshirted as a true freshman.
