they put out very drinkable beer but nothing that is going to amaze you. i find that bars with a selection that doesn't go much beyond the american mass produced beers will often have Sam Adams as an option. it is a good go-to beer in those circumstances. but it isn't going to hold up well when pitted against a solid variety of microbrews.

with that said, i do think their seasonals are generally better than the standard lineup. the summer, fall and spring seasonals have all been solid. i haven't tried the new spring yet but Noble Pils, which has been their spring seasonal the last few years, is a solid beer.
