$100 is kind of a no mans land for knife sets

I would either spend $50 on a nice victorinox chef's knife and paring knife or spend $200 and get a decent Wusthof or Henckels set.

Maybe that's my problem. The one's I've had were gifts, so I know they aren't higher end. Maybe it's worthwhile to spend a little more. Thanks.
