But how many from West of Texas, Pac Northwest, Cali, north of Tennessee, Midwest. I would love to see that list. We can't survive competing solely where where strongest teams are... IN THE SEC...
WHY would LSU want to waste recruiting $ on the West Coast and MidWest??? You take care of La and stay in the S'East and they are fine.

I fully agree with that quote, but that hasn't been happening lately as well as it used to.
Also, if anyone hasn't noticed, with all the changes in Conferences (WV in Big 12?), CFB is becoming a mini-NFL. There will only be about 15 programs who will be able to win the National Championship year in and year out. Luckily LSU is one of them.
I believe in 5 years, that any program that doesn't recruit nationally will have zero chance at the national title. And going down to 80 scholarships? You will need to stockpile as many 5 and 4 stars as possible, wherever they live.
I may be wrong, I like having LA players, but solely relying on the "fence" is a business plan of the past.

i would guess that each year the staff sits down & decides what they need in each position
then they look @ what we have instate & then decide what positions we have to go out of state for
then contacts are attempted with the best out there, but some 5 stars are not interested in LSU, no matter what. the key is getting a player to attend(at their expense) one of our camps.
but at the same time a kid at camp maybe a 3 star and we see the potential-mathieu, hurst, williford & more on.
i remember the ol prospect that we got from florida that was a parade all american that did not play a down for us, also this year gore & the lb from houston , that did not cut it
stars are set by others, not our coaching staff, their record over the past 5 years has been great, we do not need to change what we have been doing, it has worked & worked well!

As of tonight on Rivals-
UF has 18 commits w/ 9 OOS incl PA and IL
Bama has 27 commits w/ 17 OOS incl AZ, MD, TN, and 8 from GA.
LSU has 20 commits with 5 OOS, incl 2 from GA, and 2 from TX.
There are 14 players listed in the Rivals top 50 that are undecided. We are only on the list of ONE! Sorry, but that is CRAP! We don't have more resources than Purdue or FSU? I think there are a lot of fish getting away without an attempt. Whatever.
