I was there that night..... It was an electric atmosphere. If I remember right, Roland Barbay was on his official visit and got caught up in the excitement of the crowd and committed that night.

oh,man, the Assembly Center rocked in those days. Hard sellouts and probably close to 90% of the seats filled. If you didn't get in line at least two hours before the gates opened for the student section you might have gotten turned away.

So was I.

I had actually talked to Pete Jenkins that afternoon outside the dressing room in Tiger Stadium about some of us having pro-Barbay coming to LSU signs and doing pro-Barbay chants. They worked.
