Hallman flat-lined the program? Destroyed it? It's foundation? It was SMU'ed.

Dang. You have no clue.

That's pretty much true - I was there.

Dude. Come on. Archer was a horrible hire, as was Hallman. Those 2 coaches put LSU in the suck hole in the 90's.

But if you want to be honest about LSU football, it goes back WAY before Archer and Hallman. Charlie McClendon is the reason LSU football was always mediocre. In his 18 years at LSU, he won the SEC 1x, finished 2nd 2x, 3rd 3x, and the rest of the time worse than that.

He played 2nd fiddle to Alabama (2-14) and barely stayed .500 with Ole Miss (9-8-1). He also struggled with Tennessee and Georgia.

He never finished a season ranked in the top 5, never won a national title, and finished 8 seasons unranked.

McClendon had tons of talented teams, alot of All-American's and he couldn't win. That spilled over into later hires like Stovall, Archer, and Hallman. That's the truth a lot of people don't want to hear.
