"I haven't really talked to LSU that much, so I can't really tell you how they're feeling about me," Howard told TigerBait.com. "I talk to Florida a lot, so I know I'm definitely going to get down there."

quote:

Howard said he hadn't talked to an LSU coach since former wide receivers coach Billy Gonzalez accepted the offensive coordinator job at Illinois last week. Gonzalez was the LSU assistant charged with recruiting Howard.

quote:

"If I feel good on one of these visits," Howard said, "I might commit while I'm there."

Wow, we are barely recruiting him.
I guess DB U recruits itself.

Shea Dixon @Sheadixon
Just spoke to 5-star CB Tracy Howard. He will no longer be visiting #LSU this weekend. Will be at Florida instead. No visit to BR set yet.

It must but its still a shock that noone is going after him since Gonzo. Maybe losing Gonzo will be a tougher loss than I orignally thought with the Florida kids.

He wants to go where they need him. Tell him MC position is available.

Put Frank Wilson and Cooper on it ASAP.

Hard to believe we would not even take a shot at the #1 CB in the nation.

damn this is what i was telling you about the staff not having enough recruits on staff miles needs to hire a recruiter prob porter. I know Monken prob wont come here getting past over for Krags. We desperatley need another recruiter.

Miles needs to address this thats why we aren't getting on recruits til late. Wilson can only be so many places.

Why would the Wide Receivers coach be recruiting a DB?

And how would it be that our staff simply ignored such a top prospect? I realize that it may have been less probable, but with 5 scholly's left we can't afford to stop recruiting anyone at all whose been interested in LSU

Or... I know it would be a shock... But Howard isn't fully disclosing everything. You know, playing it close to the vest.

Or maybe we suck arse at recruiting now. Whatever.

From what im hearing fsu fans are pretty confident about Howard... apparently his sister goes to FAMU in Tallahassee and his mom would like for them to be close together

Here's another article...
quote:

"Some guys want to grow up and get out in the world," said Tracy Howard, a cornerback from Miramar and the state's top-ranked recruit. "People want to experience new things. Florida gets kind of boring after a while."

Howard, the nation's No. 13 overall prospect, hasn't decided whether he also will leave home. The 5-foot-11 defensive back has called Florida and LSU his leaders, though he also is considering USC and Florida State.

Sounds like he wants to get the heck out...

Awesome. The one thing that distinguishes Les from the underperforming coach of our other major sport on campus is his ability to bring in the talent. If that goes South, as it has recently, then we've got Trent II.

Unless there is another reason, it is embarrassing that we did not stay in contact with this kid. According to his interview, it was between LSU and UF. To let him go is just DUMB.

Maybe the coaching staff is tired of these OOS youngsters playing us for fools and see this here. Hopefully This is an old occurrence and we are still wanting him.
