I'm actually starting to think this thread would do better by not being stickied. Seems a lot of people just skim right past any sticky thread.

I've thought about that too. But it usually takes a few days for it to warm up. It was started on a Sunday and today is MLK day. We'll see what happens by the end of the day.

HO-LEE HELL!!! After such a shite week to start the year last week, I come in here to see what is going on on this illustrious board. I find the general threads talking about some shows I don't even watch, the 18th Battle Los Angeles thread in the past 2 weeks because the search function is non-existent, and then I look to the top and...

IT'S ON BITCHES!!! My list is going to be filled with so much 80's awesomeness you would think Sly and Arnold were sitting right next to you flexing :nohomo:. Let's do this thing

This was so hard to narrow down. I had to cut a bunch out, but basically my criteria was if they were all on TV at one time, which one would I watch first.

1 Stand by Me (1986)
2 Caddyshack (1980)
3 Vacation (1983)
4 Dead Poets Society (1989)
5 Back to the Future (1985)
6 The Karate Kid (1984)
7 Christmas Vacation (1989)
8 Raiders of the Lost Ark(1981)
9 Bloodsport (1988)
10 The Goonies (1985)
11 Scarface (1983)
12 Friday the 13th (I) (1980)
13 The Terminator (1984)
14 The Breakfast Club (1985)
15 Uncle Buck (1989)
16 Stripes (1981)
17 Once Upon a Time in America (1984)
18 Fast Times at Ridgemont High (1982)
19 The Great Outdoors (1988)
20 Back to School (1986)

I've cut to 40. I'm gonna have to enforce a one movie per director rule which leads to some fun internal arguments:

ET v. Raiders of the Lost Ark v. Empire of the Sun
The Thing v. Big Trouble in Little China
The Terminator v. Aliens
Repo Man v. Sid and Nancy
The Mission v. The Killing Fields

man...this is going to be tough. I'm going to have to untangle my current taste for baller-arse auteur film with childhood nostalgia-core.

I was really torn between Blow Out v. Dressed to Kill.

I refuse to make this argument. And I actually put They Live on there too right now. Still sitting at like 60

I take some solace though in the fact that I know movies that weren't on my list will be yours, Baloo's and others.

Most of the movies everyone is listing I do like to one degree or another.

Out of those, Cameron's the only tough one for me.

And my list is at 60 and going the wrong direction

Point of order: Is Lonesome Dove considered a TV series or a movie for purposes of this list? In other words, is it eligible?

I can say with great confidence that my list will look like a child made it.

Same here--a child born about 30 years ago that never grew up.

IMDB lists it as a miniseries.
