As much as I'd like him to be at LSU, I feel bad for the kid

Why? I'm sorry but if he didn't think there would be a lot of backlash from his decision then he is crazy. You spurn the home-state school where a number of your close friends are going and where your whole family wants you to that school's most hated rival, you are going to get a lot of backlash. I never said anything negative about the guy, but to say I feel bad for the kid, I really don't just because he had to expect it.

dont even know why DD would come to LSU, hes a perfect fit for 3-4 LB, not sure what he would play here.

I think LSU wanted him as a MLB, which I think he would do well in with his speed and agility. Could be a great sideline-to-sideline guy

6-2 is kinda short for a DE and 240 is pretty big for our LBs.

Shep was over 240lbs.

Thanks for the heads up OP.

Because he's gotten death threats/wishes and been told he will never get a job if/when he comes back

That's why I used the word EXTREME

These are 18 YO kids and they should be able to do what they want with THEIR lives. As parents, we can't run their lives all the time. We have to let them grow up and make their own decisions. If kids here committ to AU or Bama, the other fanbase or parents don't give them near as much crap about it.
