easy answer--Les did not recruit a QB because of Jamarcus and Perilloux--Perilousy goes off the reservation, and he thinks he can win in the SEC with Hatch--gets hurt, lee comes in before ready, stinks, and we are stuck with Jefferson, one of the worst QBs of all time at LSU--(in class with sol graves, marcus randall, and chad loupe.)Les didnt recruit any qbs for 3 years, and paid the price. But he has corrected this, and seens to have a good stable ready to roll out. AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, Jefferson is finally GONE!!!!

When RS came to LSU, he suddenly lost all of his abilities at QB, amazing. Bottom line he was given a raw deal, probably given promises that weren't kept (we will give you a shot at QB), and then amazingly 'convinced' that he would make a good WR after his 2nd year in college (meanwhile, he had never played WR in his life, couldn't run a route, and didn't have good hands).

RS is another victim of Les Miles poor planning, foresight, and poor player development. Even if he did have some shortcomings at QB which is conceivable as a young player, why not get him some development from a quality coach, instead of the idiot Crowton who wouldn't even come down on the field to coach the players?

Have you seen RS throw a pass? Go back and watch his highlights, and his all-american game with Barkley.

He was given a shot, and moved to WR.

Saban did not do much recruiting his last year as he was going to Miami. I remember that switching RP from Texas was Mile's entire accomplishment for recuirting. Also, having JR on the squad made it hard to attached any top recuites because they knew there would not be much playing time. Its hard to find people willing to come in and do the work without instant gratification.

He started to build it back up with the Dodger baseball kid, but again, once he left, there was just JJ and JL. Mett came in this year but I do not think Miles wanted to throw him to the dogs like he had to do with JL.

RS throws the ball like JJ. LSU has 4 quality players ready to come in an fill the QB vacancy, I feel that one of those 4 will hit big, LSU is looking better.

He accounted for all 3 of UF's touchdowns against us in '06, threw for a TD in the BCSNC game against OSU and rushed for another. I would call that a positive contribution. I would love to have had a freshman QB play like that against Bama Monday Night...

And he was UF's second leading rusher with 8 rushing TD's to go with his 4 passing TD's that year. Not sure what your definition of "big role" is, but accounting for 12 TD's def makes the cut in my book

Ask Saban why he passed on Brees at Miami? It seemed everything Saban did at Miami turned to dung.

Everyone has to realize these are college athletes and not the NFL.
It's college football. After watching what JJ has done in past bowl games with over 5 weeks to prepare I thought he was going to be as fast as he was against Texas A&M last year since he had already played in games against Bama his entire career. JJ just laid a huge egg on Monday night. And he did not even take responsibility for his bad play from what I've read. I still think it all goes back to Bama lost the first game and LSU was not as motivated and angry as Bama. Happens all the time in sports. PAYBACK motivation.

over half of a QB's responsbilities are running, not passing. They tried to make JJ into an option/running QB. Look where that left us. Imagine RS running that same offense.

Same reason SD let him go, he was coming off major sholder surgery and Drs had legit concerns if he could compete at a high level.

That is the correct answer...No way was Mett, who is without much doubt tons better than JJ & Lee going to see any significant playing time this season because of Miles' creepy affection for JJ.

The fact that we survived is what makes us elite. That 4 year stretch (the dilemma, not the results) would have taken out a lot of big schools.... Somehow we made it work.

Ryan Perrilloux is the reason for LSU being stuck with no quarterback..!!!

I have said this for too many years.....Very very true.... but it could have been corrected.....

Letting RP go was the right move, but it sure affected the team for a long time... and it should not have happened....

I like Les but it really has disturbed the fan base.... and the complete meltdown in the NCG was the end result...... 4 years of conflict and substantard QBs

Well to be honest, year 4 was a perfect year to insert the newly recruited "top rated JUCO qb in the country".

JJ was lost Monday night- everyone could see that (well, except for Miles) I agree, if not Lee, why wasn't Mett given a chance?? Sorry, but not to take away from a great season (before Monday night) but not since the Ole Miss disaster is Miles going to be ridden hard for his gameplan or inability to make changes...brings to mind the Tenn. game back during the Katrina year...
