While I don't necessarily disagree with what you are saying, it could be that he just doesn't want to say the truth. That truth would be that Jarrett does not have the best throwing mechanics. He routinely throws off his back foot, leans away from contact while he is throwing and throws the ball up to avoid getting hit. Saying those things about him would be hurtful and helps no one, so he could have taken the high road and said nothing.

I actually support him not playing Jarrett because he took some vicious hits in Tuscaloosa and threw both his picks after that. Bama was riding high in confidence at that point and knowing he couldn't hurt them with his feet, they would have pinned their ears back and rushed him, probably resulting in a interception.

Given the situation and obvious conclusion that Saban had probably schemed for Jarrett, I think Miles should have really thrown Bama a curve starting the 2nd half and trotted Mettenburg out and tried throwing with him, being a better pocket passer with a stronger arm. Just a little success passing would have moved the Bama LB's off the line of scrimmage and possibly given our running game a chance to get started. I know it would have been disrespectful to Jarrett but we were trying to win a NC, not spare hurt feelings.I realize, like many, that we would not have been in that position if it were not for Lee but IMO, he was not the man for the job at that specific time, given the situation and the level that Bama was playing at. LSU needed a real shot in the arm and something that Saban had not prepared for to turn the momentum.
