Shouldn't Louisiana fans support LSU and the Saints?
If you were born, raised and live in Louisiana, shouldn't you support LSU and the Saints.
Why do some LSU fans hate the Saints? Why do some Louisiana born, raised and live in Louisiana Saints fans hate LSU?
I never understood this.
I understand there are other universities in the state. I pull for all of them especially on the BIG stage.
I understand that some people that live in Louisiana are not from here and that is understandable.

People from new Orleans couldn't give a frick less about the rest of the state.
When I was a kid I loved the saints.
Now after growing up going to several games I don't a damn about them, mainly because of the trashy portion of their fan base that seems to out number lsu's 2 to 1.
frick em.
I don't own a jersey as well.
Different crowd that attends pro games compared to college.
Even my staunch saints fans buddies will admit it.
I'm just a far bigger fan of college football than professional football.
It's not even close.

The issue here is created by New Orleans:
Facts:
New Orleans news media spreads out as far as Hammond now (i.e. I live near Hammond now and I don't see any Baton Rouge news on the local stations, it's all New Orleans).
New Orleans media dedicates 99% of its sports talk for the saints and rarely mentions LSU despite Baton Rouge media covering both rather equally. (New Orleans thinks that LSU takes $$$ away from its city by not brainwashing its citizens that the Saints are the only team in Louisiana.
New Orleans social culture has an us versus them mentality. Everytime they talk about the saints it's "us" and everytime they talk about LSU it's "them."
Baton rouge people call both the LSU tigers and the Saints "us." (Im generalizing the general social culture).
My own speculation:
New orleans residents have something stuck up their rear about not being the 'capital city of louisiana'
New Orleans residents have always acted like they were elite compared to the rest of Louisiana - and thus those college boys at lsu doesn't mean anything compared to their nfl PROs saints.
New Orleans views themselves as being different than the rest of Louisiana. You are either from Louisiana, or you are from New Orleans, but not both.

And baton rouge doesn't view itself differently? Their tourism campaign runs a board on the interstate that says go highBRow. hilarious
