If Bama wins, they are national champs (The AP must be ignored)

This will not be relevant i predict, as I think LSU wins 20-13.....but that being said, we all need to take the high road in the rare event that Bama wins this game.
The rules are clearly established. The BCS trophy, BCS flaws and all, goes to the champion of college football. Period. Just because every Tom, Dick and Harry award a national champion in spite of this established methodology, does not make them valid national championships. Just because the AP was relevant in years gone by, does not make it relevant now.
Winner take all. Everyone needs to be on the same page.
LSU is gonna win Crystal Trophy #3. In the rare event Bama wins, then they would be THE national champion in that rare theoretical scenario.
Integrity is adhering to your stated values. I don't really know an LSU person who gives USC legit credit for a national championship in 03, so no one should claim one for LSU if this scenario unfolds.

If this is an effort to deter hypocrisy due to the 2003 AP title that USC claimed, there is one huge caveat everyone is neglecting.
USC didn't play and beat us in the regular season. We had a right to be upset at some other team who never stepped on the field against us trying to take our title when we were holding the trophy.
This year, 1-1 vs. Alabama would prove nothing.

If Bama wins, they win, but I don't think that will happen at all. Reason being you don't go unbeaten all year long taking on every rated team in the corners of the country and beating them all, handidly! These guys know what is at hand and will finish the business strong, I really feel that they'll crush Alabama this time around!

I'm actually kinda suprised that I really don't care who wins the game. LSU had an amazing season, and to me they are the best team in the country. This game just seems like a formal event with no real meaning. If Alabama does win, I will still feel that LSU had a great season. I've never been less pumped for a big game as I am for this one.
I agree BAMA is probally better than OSU, but I would have been more excited about playing an OOC team.
To me, the season ended when we beat Arkansas.

That's your opinion.....This situation is unprecidented and we beat them at their place believing it was the winner of that "defacto" game that would get here.
That being said, LSU will win by double digits...and that is as much of a lock as LC going to Bama when the person he is in love with and is his closest friend has been saying it for months.

I hope LSU wins and puts this talk to rest, but I am going to let them play the game first and then decide who I think is #1.

I agree with what you said however I feel that the national champion is determined by the BCS. You play for the crystal and that's it. I agree it woul be a shitty deal however the BCS is the crowning body of the national champion of college football.

It is what it is. If bama wins, they are the BCS champs, no arguing that.
HOWEVER, if you want to have a convo about who is the better team, I will say LSU.
My issue lies with everyone outside of Purple and Gold nation who will say "Bama won, just like they should have in the 1st meeting. This just proves Bama was the better team then and now."
Won't matter anyway, LSU is going to come out strong and shut people up.

The USC case was VERY different. USC lost only one game that year, and it was NOT to LSU. They were not given a courtesy rematch. If bama were to split the series with LSU, you would wind up with:
LSU: 13-1, SECCG win, 1 loss to bama on neutral field
Bama: 12-1, no SECCG win, 1 loss to LSU at home
It's not even close. LSU should still be voted #1 by the AP, even if it means nothing.

You think anything you want, until we have a playoff system, it is all a matter opinion and I like AP much better than coaches polls.

Might be a bit harsh, but at least ignored and shamed. Any LSU fan who bitched about USC's claim is a hypocrit if they sport apparel saying LSU as an AP #1 is the national champ. The AP exists only to allow the media to fall over themselves and the teams they choose to market/promote with large demographic fan bases and viewerships.
I wish the AP would be eliminated. Why should they even exist, really?

The fact that you even bring up this subject shows it is not clear who is the NC if Bama wins. Until we have a playoff system and the NC is determined in the field, everyone has an opinion.

Does anyone know how the athletic dept/university powers-that-be would respond to a bcs champ game loss but an ap trophy? Surely they have thought this scenario through; any idea how they respond?
