Is collins. Don't get me wrong. Bama is a great team with good coaches, but look what Ron Cooper has been turning out since his arrival. You gonna walk away from letting that guy groom you for the next level?

I agree.
He will get piss poor DB coaching from Nick Saban

Chances are he'll be fine at either school, that is unless he breaks up with the GF. I am sure that is what his parent are concerned about.

I don't think his name will ever be welcomed back in LA! He knew for 2 years and yet still wanted to make LSU look bad! No different that the idiot in TN!

In perspective, Collins has a full physical frame and natural freakish skills. His risks are quite clear:
1) Injury from overplaying which could blunt his natural skills
2) Bust from mental fatigue of leaving home state
I disagree he's missing much by not working with Tommy Mofit. I think our S&C program wouldn't have been able to do much more than him, and over time, that's where our best players are developed. With skills this high, he would want to shine early and take coaching less to heart. Buying into the team of faceless journeymen is not exciting enough for a "bama boy" who wants to get more of a star treatment.
Reminds me of the problem of UT Austin. In Texas, the kids graduate filled out at peak talent and bust in college with lack of progression & injuries. They're also mentally troubled because of the pride of making it to play for UT Austin. This kid is on the same path with Alabama.

I knew I'd get that, but what evidence is there that Saban is a good position coach?

Collins will be fine.
LSU will be fine.
He is one player that we will replace with someone that wants to be a Tiger.

Just stop. The kid is going to be a great player. Alabama has great coaches just like LSU has great coaches. He wants to go to Bama what is so wrong about wanting to play for someone else. LSU will still be LSU next year with or without Landon Collins.

most tigers fans are, so yeah, he won't be welcomed.

I don't doubt he will be good or great. I know for every Landon Collins there is a TM7. I'm not pissed or bitter, its why I'm not saying the kid sucks and burn his house down. I only said its his lost not ours.

That's why I usually don't post on the sports sections of the site. Cause I know the possibility is always there that I could go full rantard.

Really? I am not a Saban nut hugger but the guy can coach X's and O's. Any Tiger fan that thinks otherwise is kidding themselves. Saying that I think Ron Cooper and staff just as good of a job.
People need to realize the kid made a choice that he thinks is in his best intrest. You don't have to like the way he handled the situation but respect the decsion.

THIS
Let it go. He's tiger bait - pure and simple. I look at it this way....just another factor making future victories over Alabama all that much sweeter. I'm dead serious when I say safety is probably the least important position on defense. Games are won with studs in the trenches and the ability to play man coverage on the corners allowing LB's to blitz. Collins doesn't want to be here. I'd rather have lower rated DBs like Mathieu and Claiborne come to LSU with a chip on their shoulder and something to prove. As far as I'm concerned the last 2 5* safeties we signed , Chad Jones and Craig Loston never lived up to the hype. and we've been just fine without them.

Not saying that, but Saban has this perceived notion about that he is unbelievable DB coach. Now, I am not saying he isnt a good coach, but Coop is right there with him.

Ron Cooper was pumping out NFL draft picks and had a top 5 pass defense in the country at South Carolina. Guy is the best DB coach in the country

Cooper is better IMHO

You didn't answer my question. He is an outstanding defensive co-ordinator. But that does not make him a great DB coach. He may be, I was never on his team. But all I know is since Ron Cooper got here, we become DB University. That was my basis for this post in the first place, not a Saban knock.
