Their problem should be with the refs, not Marlin.

Well first off, no question the refs blew that one but there is no way that I am buying that Marlin had no clue that ULL had six on the court and secondly I just found it a little much that he is demanding to shake hands and hug the WKU players after his team just cheated and got the win ...

Wow, I thought it was gonna be someone not getting off the court in time, or an extra man running on then off. I didn't know they'd let them play 16 SECONDS and not notice. That's incredible. The other strange thing is, they're 6 on 5 and the ball handler never gave the ball up. Took it himself.

So you think in a tied game, in the final seconds he purposely played 6 taking the chance of getting a Tech called on his team that would basically guarantee a WKU win?

I think he's just saying that once he saw 6 out there on the final play he wasn't about to say anything about it... just quick guys shake hands and get to the locker room!

I guess reading the game article in the Lafayette paper just rubbed me the wrong way .. Marlin takes no responsibility for what happen and blames the Refs for wanting to "speed up" the game and not doing their jobs ...
I know it would never happen and would take some balls but I would love a team and/or coach in a situation as blatant as this to own up to their mistake admit that they were wrong and their illegal actions may have had an effect on the outcome of the game and forfeit the win ...

In that case hell yeah. No point in shooting yourself in the leg for the refs not doing thier job.
I'd have Payton running suicides for not passing the ball in that situation.

It was a fricking iso. And Payton NEVER thought about passing that ball. If Payton had drive and kicked to one of the 6...I understand. But one guy kept the ball the entire time. I you can't crash on a driver inside 5 seconds...you probably deserve to less, whether there were 6 players of not.

None of that is relevant. At all. 6 is illegal, and should've been called. The fact that it was an iso and he never gave the ball up doesn't matter. You have no idea where the defense would've been had there been one less person to guard.

Go back and watch it again, and you will see the WKU player under the goal pointing at the open man like WTF. Definitely created more space. How often do you see an uncontested layup to win the game?

Hell, give the refs a break. The announcers watched it live, then on replay, and didn't notice there were 6 on the court until someone came up and told them 3 minutes after it happened!!!
