I have no problem with you taking pride in your GEAUX Tigers, Roll Tide, Rocky Top, etc., but please spare me the trifle argument that the SEC "Universities" are anything more than football programs that feed the NFL and are loosely tied to and fund their NCAA partner.

These institutions are sub-par in almost every academic standard, when compared to their major non-conference competitors, yet find a way to always show pride in their drunkenness and the fact that their "Student Athletes" beat the student athletes from my University in a four hour game that has no lasting impact on society.

Also, please enjoy the fact that your "Universities" have such promising futures for those who a) don't make the NFL (you really can't earn a legitimate degree), b) don't graduate (you came here for football and you didn't make the cut), or c) were over-subscribed on a scholarship basis and there is someone else taking your scholarship next year (please read: we don't have room for you at our "University" b/c there is a really good HS senior that we think can help us out).

Also, when reading the prior sentence, please the fact that you paid for a degree to subsidize the NFL development program.

Not surprising. This is an institution that graduated approximately 15% of its basketball players over a 10 year period. While they have made some improvements academically, this school (and those in charge of it with bloated salaries) are basically enjoying a huge party subsidized by the tax payers. The endowment is quite small per student , even with all the football success.

On another note, I have never witnessed a more racist, inebriated group of fans at a football event than what I witnessed at an LSU game. The name calling associated with their own African American quarterback was disturbing to say the least. This does not represent all fans, but enough fans for one to ask how can you really be proud of such a place and ignore such a major problem?
