Unitas. Nobody else has even come close to Unitas.

Warren Moon and Drew had both approached the Marino record before.. but nobody has even sniffed Unitas.

I would say the Unitas record because it's so much older and it spans over multiple seasons.

The fact that Brees will have both is incredible, even if Brady breaks it next week if we rest Drew.

I witnessed both of them. Unitas is about the most overrated player in the history of pro sports. He couldn't carry Marino's jock.

from the hall of fame website

The record has not been seriously challenged. The closest a quarterback has come is the 36-game string by Brett Favre of the Green Bay Packers from 2002 to 2004.

drew is now 5 games away

I wouldn't assume Brees will have both. He's 90% of the way there, but often, the last 10% is the hardest.

Does the record for most games in a row with a TD pass include playoff games?

The Unitas record is much more impressive IMHO

many historians claim its more difficult to break than the DiMaggio hitting streak

I call them as I see them. Even Earl fricking Morall won with Baltimore's players when Unitas went down.... in fact, they were BETTER when Morall took over.

And Unitas is a case where you can legitly bring up the rules changes since he set the record. It was a running league in those days without rules to favor the passing game.

The pressure on Drew the closer he gets is going to make this very difficult to get. When/if he gets one game away the pressure is going to be tremendous.

if he continues it next week, he'll end the season at 43 straight games.. so he'll break it in the 4th game of the 2012 season
