Mother in law gave me this savage arms 12 guage from her father. It doesn't eject shells properly even after a good cleaning. Firing pin malfunctions. Other than that I love this gun. How much you think it would cost to get in good working order again? Worth it?

So, are you saying that is doesn't eject shells AND it has a firing pin problem or do you think the reason it doesn't eject shells is because the firing pin doesn't work properly?

Well, anyway, no worries. The failure to eject is an easy fix and won't require a gunsmith.

That gun is an iteration of the various Savage copies of the Browing Auto-5. In this instance they just rounded the hump a little and covered it with the funcky stock. As a copy of the Auto-5 it will have friction rings on the magazine tube that must be set differently for heavy and light loads. The rings are probably set wrong.

Just google up the correct way to set the friction rings on an Auto-5, remove your forend, set the rings the way you are supposed to, and take it out and shoot it.
