Why would he associate body odor with humans? Seriously. Think about it.

He doesn't associate that smell with anything except that he doesn't know what it is. When that smell scares him, he then associates it with danger. Most hunters are carrying guns, so it's not a stretch to say that deer may be more afraid of scent of gun oil then they are of body odor. Just a thought.

To answer the question, I wipe mine down if it gets wet or muddy, but rarely if ever really clean it during the season.

I may wipe it down but I wait till after season to claen it. Unless I get rained on heavy, then I get into the clean a bit more.

Yes, it's a stretch. You are using your brain too much. They are not humans or even primates. You give them way too much credit.
