Hunting Club or Lease in Mississippi - Jackson Metro Area

First time caller.....I'm recently new to the Jackson, MS metro area and I'm trying to get information on hunting clubs or leases around here. I would like to stay around Rankin/Madison/Hinds and surrounding counties. Anyone know of any clubs looking for members...I'm not trying to break the bank either. Moved here after graduating from LSU and got the itch to start hunting a regular basis. Right now only hunting when I go home for holidays. Thanks in advance

welcome.
you might find something in the MS Farm Market Bulletin. Clubs advertise for members sometimes.

Welcome to the board. I'm a legend around here..
To answer your question I would search on LouisianaSportsman after hunting season. Most guys on here hunt in either LA or TX and not many of us have a lease.

Thanks...I'm a pretty big deal myself. I have many leather bound books and my house smells of rich mahogany.
I'd love to find something to hunt around here. Not big on public land unless I'm ground hunting. Don't want to lug a stand in and out. Plus like to be able to come and go as I please and to the same spots without worrying someone is there or near by.

Good luck finding a club friend.

Welcome fellow Rankin Countian.
Check the local (Jackson) craigslist. They often post about clubs in Rankin/Madison, etc. Most are pretty affordable too. IDK about the quality of deer though. There is one in Raymond for bowhunters, STAY AWAY. Dude has a rule book that is 50 pages long! Good luck!
BTW I work on Lakeland Dr. in Flowood. Always looking for some fellow LSU fans in "Da Wood"

Thanks for the info guys.
Lou: where you at on Lakeland? I work off Lakeland also. Hate the traffic, thank goodness I live 2 miles from work. I have a place I can hunt in Madison county - Canton area, but only with a friend of the land owner. Which means about three times a year. Going to offer him some $$$ to hunt as I please next year, if I have no other luck. There are some big deer in Madison county.

I work at Brentwood with the crazy people (mostly Bama fans)
Madison has some good deer. If you can get someone to let you hunt his land that is the way to go! With all the development in Madison the deer are more concentrated and hunted much less than other areas.
ETA: After living in New Orleans, Lakeland is like a walk in the park! The holiday traffic at Dogwood is getting on my nerves though!

BTW, I hunt out in Pelahatchie on family (In-law) land. Haven't been much this year though. Having two kids under the age of two will do that

No kids yet. Getting married in March, I'm sure it gets tough finding time. I guess you can look forward to taking them soon. I'm going to hunt the Madison land a few times next week. Hope to get something on the ground and talk with the land owner about hunting it for next season.
Any news on the rut in that area right now?
