I think this a good fit and good first HC job for Malzahn...

From what the local radio station said this morning.. he will have to take a pay cut..
they can't match 1.3 mill...
I agree though.. he could build on this job & get a bigger job later..

quote:
Auburn offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, we are told, has an offer on the table from Arkansas State. Though Arkansas State has offered to pay significantly more than it ever has, Malzahn would still have to take a significant pay cut to leave Auburn, where he is paid $1.3 million per year.
Most people we have talked to who are close to Malzahn don't believe he will do it, but others believe he might want to be a head coach badly enough to take the leap and give up the money. Malzahn is an Arkansas native who earned a national reputation as an offensive innovator at Springdale High School.
Our guess is that Malzahn will be Auburn's offensive coordinator next season, but it's only a guess. Whatever is going to happen should happen soon.
Arkansas State is looking for a replacement for Hugh Freeze, who resigned to become head coach at Ole Miss after going 10-2 this season.

If GM leaves and takes a pay cut to accept this job, it tells me he believes Auburn is hurting next season and he wants to get out while he can.
