Winter time is upon us, so the sows are up in the bays nestled into the thick mud. In Texas, the limits are more strict, but in Louisiana there are more back lakes to fish. I know in Texas during the wintertime, personal bests are broken with 30+ inch specks.

So does Louisiana have equally big fish, or does the high bag limit leave smaller fish year round?

I'm gonna call BS!

grated I have been fishing in TX only once, but I don't think their fish have an average of 10" on ours!

Nobody said average. He said people catch personal bests of 30 inches.

And there is nowhere in LA with specks averaging 20 inches.

the only reason I ask is because my buddy just got done telling me of a great day on the water where he caught his PB 26in speck. That's decent in Texas, but nothing I'd write home about.

There is no question Bigger fish are caught in TX. I dont think it's due to the bag limits.

Must be in the wrong spots and/or not holding your mouth right.

Ive put in more time speck fishing than a lot of guys on this board and I have never caught a speck over 5 lbs. Of course I fish dulac/cocodrie, where the fish aren't as big. I hold my mouth right but I'm in the wrong spot.

If you really think the trout in Eloi average 20 inches you don't know what the word average means. LDWF takes samples all over the state.

I'm fully aware that boxes of big trout can be caught at the Central rigs. But it is a biological fact that the trout in that area don't average anywhere near 20 inches. I don't care how many anecdotal examples you give me...it simply isn't true.

the best spot for trophy specs is on the North Shore by the rigolets brah. I know a few honey holes there that'll light ya box up!

Better ask somebody.
