As for whom it is meaningful, I am LSU fan.
That's my point. You are an LSU fan. For you, 5 Nov was meaningful.
However, the powers that be rendered 5 Nov insignificant by putting Bama in the 9 Jan game.
They granted Bama a re-do, effectively rendering the 5 Nov game meaningless with regard to the National Championship.
The 5 Nov game result had no influence on who would play for the NC, because Bama is playing for the NC despite 5 Nov.
As such, with regard to the NC and the CFB public at large, LSU did not win anything on 5 Nov. In other words, LSU proved nothing on 5 Nov. They didn't prove that they were better than Bama. They didn't prove that Bama did not deserve a re-do.
Of course, LSU fans will value the SEC Championship for 2011, but, the CFB public at large today and for all time forward will be talking about the National Champion for 2011.
If Bama wins on 9 Jan, the 2011 SEC Championship will be worthless to all but LSU fans, players and coaches.
PS I realize that I'm sort of talking about a topic that is not directly on point with the thread title. The point of the thread title is accurate. With other than LSU fans, there is a perception or meme that "LSU really did not win on 5 Nov." This is precisely the reason why the CFB powers that be gave Bama the re-do, thus erasing the significance of 5 Nov.
Because Bama is in the SEC, a Bama win also erases the significance of winning the 2011 SEC Championship, except in the eyes of LSU people.
I don't like the fact that the CFB powers that be show such disrespect for LSU's win on 5 Nov and LSU's 2011 SEC Championship, but, there's nothing we can do about it.

I can't stress enough that Champagne gets it. Good job.
Champagne, did you see my "know your place" thread? If you haven't, you would like it. If you did, my apologies. A lot of posters responded, but I don't remember who.

Except hammer the gumps to an airy thinness on Jan 9!

The only thing LSU can do about it is to beat Bama's arse even worse the second time around.
