Are you going to feel like your team is the national champion after losing the "National Championship Game?" So what if the AP votes us that way. We will have lost the game in the system we signed up for. Please don't let us be THAT fanbase that loses the championship and whines, "but we beat you in the regular season and now we're AP champ."
I am just telling you why it is different. The 2003 situation was a complete joke. The AP didn't like the result so they changed the rules during the season. Ridiculous.
But, the AP has crowned their own national champion for years now. It is the same system they used to crown champions for decades. If the AP says that LSU is their champion even if we lose to Alabama, then we are the AP champion.
You can feel about it however you want. But, the AP championship now is just as legitimate as the AP championship in 1992 or 1982 or 1979 or any time prior.
Do with it what you will.
