If I wanted this much herp a derp, I'd go to a political thread. Jumping Jesus on a pogo stick! Can you put down the gawdamned politics crayon for five farkin' minutes you myopic knuckle draggers? This has jack squat to do about 'conservative' or 'liberal'. Go jerk off to Limbaugh, "Mein Kampf" or Rachel Maddow's dildo collection. The stupid in here sometimes, sheesh!

The opposing coach is a douchebag too. His comments:

quote:

As for Blue Hills, the school's coach made it clear that he agreed with the call, and that the controversial decision took nothing away from the first Super Bowl victory in school history. "We try and play by the rules, and the rule is no celebrating," Blue Hills football coach Ed Catabia told the Globe. "It was unfortunate [for Cathedral], but it was a great call, the right call."

No asswipe, the rule says no "taunting", not no "celebrating". Geez. Way to go MIA. Must be fun playing sports to be coached/told that you aren't allowed to celebrate.

Yeah. frick that dude. Just recently, there was a write up about a cheer squad or something that gave up a championship to another team, because it was won on a technicality. Classy move. This guys response is retarded.

The anti-taunting rule is perfect for abuse by officials who want to determine the outcome of a game. It needs to go asap.

At the least, it needs to be changed:

Apply the penalty on the following play such that a score is NEVER nullified. As it is, it's like hard jail time for jaywalking.

Put in wording that defines egregious taunting and list examples.

WOW. Just WOW. Are you kidding me? Why even play the game? Lets just award everyone a trophy and sit in the middle of the field and sing Kumbaya.

What part of that was taunting? How can a ref knowingly make that call ?

I am so sick of this "no one is allowed to be hurt" sentiment. We are doing a disservice to our kids by not teaching them there are winners and losers in life. If you dont like losing, do something about it! Most of us learned at an early age through youth sports those lessons. I refuse to allow my kids to play in leagues where they dont keep score.

Before you decide to throw down your myopic political views, why don't you bother to read the article. I would hardly call the instigator of the rule a liberal organization. It states:
"The state uses NCAA rules and regulations for its football competitions, and The College Football Officiating guidelines state the following in regards to unsportsmanlike conduct on a play that results in a touchdown"

Thanks NCAA; you stupid rule trickled down to HS football and ruined a state championship. If this rule is to continue (and I hope NOT) refs at all levels need to learn the difference between celebrating and taunting.

This HS is just a few blocks from my house, they're good kids and they're devastated. It's in the heart of the city and to play football there takes a lot of dedication. They have no field, so just getting to practice is a major undertaking. I really feel sorry for them.

I hate this rule because it's very subjective.

I like the comment that is now on page one (but probably not for long) that illustrates the attitude of people who like that kind of rule and result:

Geosa Nadia:

"Though it appears to me the flag was thrown because the QB was black and I doubt it would have been thrown if the QB was white, I support the rule and result. Football is unnecessarily violent, so why have taunts? The punk needed to be taught a lesson."

...or....don't be a jackass.

People act like it's impossible to simply play the game and not draw attention to yourself. Celebrating IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PLAY is poor sportsmanship. Period. Good call.

...and get off my lawn!

This was not taunting in the sense of getting in the opposing player's face, mocking the opposing team, or putting on a staged celebration. It was spontaneous, brief, and enthusiastic, like Wing's celebration. I would distinguish taunting from celebrating. I know it's subjective, but I think applying the letter of the law in this instance was uncalled for.
