I bought mine the second year they were on the market and my grips are still fine. As far as price goes, it is fair for what you are getting. This is the best water fowling gun I have ever owned and trust me when I say that I am very hard on guns.

From what I've heard, the new Extreme has yet to disappoint (albeit they're still new). I've looked at them, but I prefer shooting an over and under which is why I'm considering the Browning Cynergy in duck blind synthetic.
