Drop AQ status from the BCS system

They just said on CBS that they were sure the AQ status would be dropped from the next iteration of the BCS system.
Why are we so sure of this? After all of the realignment that was done because of AQ status and teams wanting to get it and others wanting to keep it why would they think people would just let that go. Also, why are they so sure that the Rose Bowl (and to a lesser extent the other BCS bowls) will give up its ties to the Big 10/Pac 12 or leave the BCS???

I just think the Big East is dead. We can then have 5 AQ conferences.

Nor will the conferences with a title game risk having their champ excluded.

I think that the BCS will change and go to #1 vs #2 only, and the rest of the bowls make their own deals.

I'd like that system somewhat. I'd say BCS used for 1v2 and then the rest of the "BCS Bowls" are chosen from the top 12-15. No "only 2 teams" rules. No "Top 8 (or whatever it is) gets ND in". No "undefeated non-aq schools in the top 5 get in". None of that shite.

They do, but since conferences are not going to go to pure round-robins, what do you do? Especially in years like 2009 when Alabama and Florida are undefeated and ranked 1/2
