I am not sure how you seperate Stanford, OSU and Bama if all finish with 1 loss. They all have reasons why they could be considered number 2. At the end of the day it just like life --- unfair.

If deserves played a role in sports, then the Vikings deserved another shot at the Saints in 2009 because they lost the game ONLY because their QB made a bad play and were probably still the second best team in the NFL that year.
But that is not how things work.

In 2007, LSU was bumped up to 2 because they deserved a shot at the title compared to teams 2-6 in the previous weeks poll.

You are correct here. Bama resume is based on their loss to LSU. If other numbers are considered OSU can make a case if they beat OU.

Well, if the common denominator among these teams is that they all carry 1 loss, then the clear way to separate them, based on that which unifies them, is to examine each team's '1 loss'. That should be a pretty simple formula.

I am not sure how you seperate Stanford, OSU and Bama if all finish with 1 loss. They all have reasons why they could be considered number 2. At the end of the day it just like life --- unfair.
At one time they would use strength of schedule, and team wins..which team beat the most ranked teams..but when a team thinks its entitled because of who they are...well..that's when it becomes a problem..
