Where does this rumor come from? Message boards? Why would Texas even consider that? Its not like they have been struggling for a long time and are looking to get back like Bama was circa 2007.

I spread every rumor about Saban (full disclosure). This one has legs because I hear it on ESPN radio earlier this season, I heard Hanagriff allude to it, including the amount this week and I heard the exact number last year when it was just wild a$$ speculation.

It may be the same rumor is spreading - that's certainly possible. However, knowing the way this outfit operates - Sexton and Saban as regular as Metamucil.

Not saying it's out of the question at all as Texas is one of the biggies job wise. However, this exchange from a regular Texas poster on their scout site seems to suggest he doesn't think much of the rumor:

doreknox wrote: We keep hearing the same story in Nashville. Mack's brother Watson (former VU coach) is HC at TN Tech and supposedly spilled the beans to someone. In addition to Mack's retiring, we have also heard that a ten year, $10 million per deal will be offered to Saban. A hundred mill is a lot of scoots, but you folks have the program and the income.

(Regarding Mack Brown retiring):

"Confirmed reports from people really connected inside the program have said there is nothing to this. Not to say Mack may have a change of heart and completely unexepected change his mind, but Mack has said many times this season that this year has been one of his most enjoyable by having the new blood in to the program and seeing young players stepping in and playing. Unless there is some health issue or family issue, I see no reason for him to leave at this point. Look at the talent that just arrived this year and the class coming next year.

(regarding Saban):

And the Saban rumor is just that. Nothing to it at all."
