If Bama is clearly the second best team in nation as many suggest

and the BCS is setup for the 2 BEST teams to play in the NC, where would Okie Lite be ranked right now had they won in OT vs Iowa St.?

i am getting a little concerned.
this is like the third time today that i had a certain thought. and then minutes later it showed up as a thread.
basically okie state would be #2, but bama would still be considered the second best team. and therefor the argument that the bcs is supposed to put the two best teams in the championship game are dumb.

They would be at #2 behind Bama if Bama beat LSU in OT.

A lot of people don't realize that Okie St has already clinched a share of the Big 12 Conf Championship. The game against OU is for the FULL conf championship.

they should only allow one slot per conference, but the winner's conference should keep that slot for the next year, regardless, I think that would be a cool rule.

I believe the BCS was established with the notion of settling the national championship on the field, instead of having the top teams not playing each other.
Really, it's up to interpretation. It's either best teams (I disagree cause then losses wouldn't matter, Bama/LSU clearly look like the best teams), or best team with best season (where the OSU vs Bama argument comes in), or strictly to determine a champion, where a rematch doesn't settle anything since others wouldn't have had a shot.
Problem is, I don't think there's any set guidelines, and humans have 2/3rds power over who plays while not having any rules to how to vote. Great idea don't you think?
