They definitely have influence but if they push too hard it may turn some voters away.
I think Bama is the 2nd best team out there but their two best wins are Arkansas and Penn State. Their main claim is that they lost to LSU in overtime. I could see some voters dropping Bama behind the 1 loss conference championship winner(s).
If Ok State beats OU it will be intersting to see what happens.
