Nov. 5th was basically the NFC or AFC championship. The two clear cut best teams in the country (let's say the packers and 49ers for example) have to duke it out before the big one and as a result one gets left out of the big game. There's no doubt in my mind that Bama is second only to LSU, but until a playoff system is implemented I don't see the logic in having a rematch in the national championship, regardless of what teams are involved.

What if the Packers have to play New Orleans in the NFC titel game? You mean the Pack has to beat them again? They shouldn't have to should they?

I agree with this logic..... And would say the same thing had Bama beat LSU. But, that is not how the BCS is going to work this year. We will get a chance to prove to the world that Nov 5th was not a lucky fluke win by LSU. As bad as it may be.....it is what it is. I hate to say it, had we lost to Bama I can almost guarantee we would be on outside looking in.

A rematch won't prove a damn thing. LSU/Bama could probably beat each other on any weekend. Bama had their chance. They lost at home with LSU's backup (at the time) QB. Also, LSU will play 13 games versus Bama's 12 games.

Those 2 statements contradict each other.

The purpose of the voters & BCS is to match the 2 best teams in college football: LSU vs. Alabama

I'd rather play anyone else in the country since LSU already beat Bama once, but under the current system, nobody but LSU & Alabama deserve to be in the title game.

Not sure why LSU's "reward" for winning the first game is an extra game, with extra chances for injuries, while the Gumps get an extra week to rest and prepare. If OSU wins, they should jump. Same for Va Tech.

I'm kind of ambivilent on the whole rematch thing. On the one hand I think Bama is by far the most worthy opponent out there. If the BCS is really to match up the best two teams, than it should definitely be LSU/Bama.

On the other hand, since we've beat them already, it will be kind of anti climactic. If they would happen to win in a close one it would be hard to say they're better, especially if we beat Georgia in an extra game (SEC Championship Game) on the way there.

I think the BCS is just not set up for a situation where there is clearly one best team after the regular season - no more so than it is set up if there were say 3 really good undefeated teams or 3 really good 1 loss teams and no undefeated teams.

Bottom line for me is that I think the BCS has been pretty good to the Tigers so I ain't gonna complain either way. And whoever they set us up against I think LSU goes in and takes care of business.

169 out of 170 voters have Bama at #2. There's not even enough voters in Big 12 country to keep Bama out IF they all decided to be homers.

Big 10 country (they KNOW the SEC is the best)
Pac 12 country (same as above, see Oregon)
ACC country (too soft and no1 cares, see Clemson)
Big East country (do i even need to point this out?)

Who is going to really take OSU that seriously? They voters have voted them 6th so far and Stanford 5th. Stanford won't lose. The season is done. You gotta convince voters to jump Stanford first. Why should they now? Not to mention VA Tech.

The point of the BCS is to put the 2 best teams in the title game.

The voters should vote who they think are the 2 best teams, regardless of conference or if they played earlier in the year.

FWIW we are LSU we are 12-0 we should welcome the opportunity to play the 2nd best as we are the best.

Plus we get to beat up the arrogant entitled Bama fan and Little Nicky 3 times in 14 months!

What is better than that?

Wrong! The voting should rank teams based on how well they played. Only if they think OSU would beat Bama should they rank them higher. Anything else is biased, dishonest and contrary to the rules. You don't change the rules after the fact just because they don't favor you. The BCS NC game is a 1 game playoff. I wish it were more but it isn't. That 1 game playoff pits the best two teams in the nation, regardless of conference affiliation - PERIOD. And those teams are LSU and Bama. This is not the NFL but even in your scenario, if the loser of the packers/49ers regular season game had no other losses, they would still make the playoffs and if both continued to win, they would eventually face the team that beat them. And the winner would go on regardless of what happened in the regular season.
