What it all boils down to, is that Miles has this belief that JJ can do the same things Lee brings to the table...and is willing to give him the snaps to prove it.
If you look at it from the other side, Miles does not have the same belief that Lee can use his legs and be mobile like JJ can...so if Lee has a bad game throwing the ball, then he gets the hook...where JJ in the same situation would get more chances because he can make plays with his legs.
I don't think it has anything to do about trust or favoritism. Maybe Miles just believes in JJ's passing too much.
