Still find it hard to believe that Saban suggested Houston Nutt

as his replacement.

ultimate placeholder for when he flamed out in the pros.

I was thinking about that yesterday. That was an uncool move by little Nicky, rivaled only by becoming the coach of Bama.

Saban didn't care about LSU after he left. No coach wants the next guy to do better than themselves... except for maybe Lou Holtz. That dude loves him some Notre Dame.

Don't they both have sexton as their agent? I wouldn't be surprised if he was just trying to help sexton.

Good think LSU was fooled once on hiring a replacement as suggested by a departing coach.

Was Nutt a client of Sexton's at that time? Maybe Nick was trying to keep it in the family?

as a contingency plan in case the NFL didn't work. He'd either replace Nutt as LSU was firing him or return to the SEC and not have to face the monster he created.

They share the same agent.

Why......Bill Arnsbarger left LSU as head coach to go to Florida as AD and he suggested we hire his assistant Bill Archer to replace him....guess what......we did!!!

Arnsparger suggested Archer instead of Spurrier who allegedly wanted the job.

Bertman asked him for some suggestions and Nutt was one of a few. I don't think he told Bertman to hire him.
Saban suggested Nutt because his teams always gave LSU fits and with much less to work with.

Nutt had (may still have) the same agent as Saban

Maybe he knew he was going Bama all along.

And we were crazy for getting rid of his arse

at the time, it seemed like a good idea.
Nutt brought instant success to three programs before Ole Miss.
Boise (which built on the success and is now a household word)
Murray State (where he is still regarded as the be-all, end-all.)
Arkansas (came close immediately. )
therefore, based on his track record and success in the actual SEC, it was a reasonable idea.
At the time Miles was the pick, I was not at all pleased
as I had seen the way his Ok State team had been beat by Tex, which was down a zillion at the half and stormed back, and beat by the Okies, who were also down a zillion and also stormed back.
I watched both those games.
I watch way too much football, I know.

He wanted LSU to fail. Not hard to believe as that is pretty standard for a narcisist ego maniac.
