MArriott downtown is pretty nice place as well. Walking distance to Beal St. and Pat O's.

Pat O's is closed and has been for some time. You can try out Silky O'sullivans for a similar time, but I'd stay away from Beale, dangerous these days...at least the east end of it.

Hotels:

Depending on your budget, you can't go wrong at the Peabody Hotel, Madison, or the Westin downtown. There are plenty of hotels throughout the city that are fine enough, but you'll be hard-pressed to find anything to do for entertainment outside of the downtown area.

Bars/Food

As for bars downtown, depending on your liking, try Local Pub (great food), Bardog (nice Sunday brunch menu), Silly Goose (scotch bar), and Flying Saucer (beer bar, something like 200 available). For nightlife (dancing/club/chicks), Club 152 on Beale is pretty much the "hot spot" these days I think, also Rehab Disco on Front Street is really nice (I like it a lot better than 152).

BBQ

Rendezvous has turned to shite lately for some reason, but its probably worth a try if you've never been. However, if you want quality ribs (wet or dry) find time to get Central BBQ on Central Ave in midtown, hands down the best in the world...try a little of everything they have though.
