So I’m coming out of ‘retirement’ to post here (LOL):

The echo chamber that the media has become is utterly ridiculous.

Now, I (as a fan) have no fear about a BAMA rematch. And I’m certain that our Tigers fear NO team. But all this talk of a rematch is borderline crazy talk… ‘Crazy’ may be a little too strong, but I think it’s nonsense. I have already grown tired of the oft-cited OU team of 2003. I know that OU didn’t win their conference, but they AT LEAST won their division and actually PLAYED for the conference title (on a neutral site, no less). And again, the 1996 UF squad that lost their final game of the season to Florida State (note: not only did they not lose to a team from their OWN DIVISION, but a team not even in their conference and on the road in a hostile environment!). UF proceeded to win—WIN—the conference by besting BAMA and earned their shot at a rematch.

It is unfortunate that BAMA and the Tigers are in the same division of the conference (and I’m not being cynical here) but ‘thems the breaks’. It is unfair to the Tigers who will need to win out, and then play in an additional game to earn their place in the BCS Championship. As it stands, our boys will HAVE to win out to make it to New Orleans. A loss, even in the SEC Championship, ends championship hopes. Now, a loss for us MAY end BAMA’s chances as well, but don’t hold your breath on that one with the Tide sitting pretty at the three spot in the BCS right now.

I guess I’ve just been watching a little too much TV being off today, but it just sounds like no one has original thoughts anymore. It’s just regurgitation and re-hash of the same tired talking points—it just becomes a contest as to who can shout the longest and loudest. There’s just no original thought out there (at least not one that seems to have traction against the ‘talking heads’, most of whom seem to be in lust with the invincible BAMA, the incomparable Trent Richardson, and the unmatched Nick Saban). They lost at HOME… The #1 defense and #1 offense in the SEC LOST at home. They scarcely moved the ball beyond LSU’s 30. Richardson gained less than 90 yards on 23 carries—gaining nearly half of that total on 2 runs. Oh well, this may all be moot if teams can take care of business, but I think it’s ridiculous all the same.
