If I am Larry Scott I am on the phone with KU/KSU/OU/OSU every single day. Maybe even Tech instead of KSU if that could fly. In my head you would be making a 16 team conference with the old Pac 8, and then those 4 with CU/Utah/ASU/zona. That to me is an extremely strong and competitive conference in all sports.
With the bowl system as is... This seems like the only reasonable way for the Pac 12 to expand. OU vs USC Pac 16 championship game every year? Massive TV revenue. I know this won't happen OU is tied to the hip with Texas(my uncle is a powerful OU alumni that won national titles, blocked for a Heisman winner, and played in the league) ... And honestly the reason for that is that because of the Big 12, OU's enrollment over the last 15 years has jumped from 5% Texas kids to 40%. And it is out of state tuition. OU used to have problems getting Texas kids to enroll. I'm a Texas resident and my mom went to OU. If I was born way earlier, I could have received in state tuition for being a legacy. OU has may make millions from a Pac 16 deal, but they billions off enrollment. Billions. The entire state of OU has 3 million people. Texas has 25. DFW has 7.
And for this reason alone, OU will NEVER leave Texas.
