Saban vs. Miles: Contrast In The Use Of Depth

I thought it was very interesting how these two top coaches approached the game in such opposite ways when it came to using their depth, and it more or less defined the game. Saban kept his starters out there. The best players at each position played all game. Miles more or less rotated in two teams all game long. In the first half, it looked like Saban had the upper hand (as his starters looked a little better than the mix of starters and back-ups that we were using). By the second half it had swung the other way. Bama's starters looked worn down. and our team was still fresh. By OT Bama had nothing left.

You could tell Alabama was out of gas in OT.

LSU's depth is staggering. It seemed that there were only a handful of players that played every snap on their side of the ball.
D: Claiborne, Taylor, Reid, Baker
O: Faulk, Hurst
Bama substituted far less.

Preparing for Oregon and our strength of schedule has paid in dividends so far. Lots of awesome experience and conditioning.
