Why didn't Saban call a TO at the end

Our last possession when we didn't get the 1st down and there was I think about 2 minutes left in the game. I understand he's at home and he's probably thinking he's got the advantage in OT, but why not call a TO and try to get into FG range there? To me this is bad coaching. We would be all over Les for this.

Saban thought he could win in OT.

Yup. Les would be getting raked across the coals if he coached like saban did last night

I can't blame him. He's at home and we can't move the ball on offense. That was just crazy that he didn't try to push the ball into FG range in regulation though. There was plenty of time. I can't believe that he sat on it like that.

I asked the group I watched the game with the same question. He had two timeouts and could have done some short stuff to the sideline to get in FG range.
I truely think Saban had lost faith in both the kickers and his QB.

He had no faith in his QB to make a play and his fg kicker to make a long kick...
he rolled the dice to win it in OT and lost...

I wonder why he didn't put a running QB in the game that can't do shite??? That's what we do.

Bama was going down the field on LSU in a minute and he knew it
LSU wasn't going to be able to do that either so I got no big issue with it
Hell neither team had over 300 yds total O
IDGAF what people say, I was entertained throughout

I shall give you the answers had it been anyone other lesser mortal coach
1. He forgot that he had TOs left
2. He needs a grad assistant to remind him to use it next time.
3. He thought that there was 48 minutes left and not 48 seconds.

I wonder if they questioned him about this postgame?
Probably not...nothing but pussies in the media who are scared of him.
He needed to be called out big time for that.

Had he called the TO after we failed to get the 1st down on 3rd down, he would've gotten the ball back with around 2 minutes left if I'm not mistaken. I'd say at least 1:30. Seemed foolish, but I'm just a rantard

I disagree. It was a defensive struggle and his kickers had already missed three kicks. Why take a chance at a turnover? He liked his odds better in OT. I thought it was the right call. If you question Saban then u need to question Miles for not using his TO's to stop the clock and go for the blocked punt also.

Because he was afraid to try. He blinked. His team knew it and played afraid in overtime.

Do what?!
Hahahaha, I agree that Saban probably liked his chances in OT, as I've already stated that. What I'm saying is that I found it odd (I found it) that he didn't try more to get into FG range and end it. He didn't have to trust his QB if that was the case, and he didn't have to trust his Kicker if that was the case, but he could have used his time outs and tried to move the ball and take a chance. I don't buy that he didn't trust the QB or the kicker. He allowed them to kick all night. It was long kicks. He should have done differently in my opinion

This is sorta how I feel. I think he's way too conservative and always has been. CLM gets torn a new a-hole for not utilizing the clock if the same situation went the other way.

Miles had two timeouts (I think). If Miles knew that Saban was just running out the clock, then why didn't he call timeout to stop the clock? If you are arguing about Saban not using his timeouts, u must look at Miles also. He could have had a chance for a muffed punt, bad snap etc....

this is the correct answer. he blinked. he was relieved that the game ended in a tie and thought he could win it in ot.

Miles had confidence in his kickers for the OT(given what had happened thus far) - Saban shouldn't have.
