The big 8 was much more like the SEC attitude. Nebraska and Oklahoma were always on top but we all felt equal and there was not much fighting. I liken the Big 12 to being in an abusive marriage where you felt trapped and had no voice.

One of my great SEC stories comes from the 2008 Sugar bowl. Georgia was playing Hawaii and the only national interest in the game was if the Bulldogs could stop the air attack of Hawaii.
I took my family to the game and we were dressed in our LSU attire and we sat in the Hawaii section.
We were asked no less than 20 times why we were there if we were LSU fans?
Our response was: "Here to cheer on a SEC brother!".
Everyone just shook their heads.

I know I used to feel that way about most of the Big 8 Universities and even some when in the Big 12 at first. But things got worse as the years went by.

One exception though I think you would be hard pressed even in the Big 8 days to find KU fans rooting for Missouri or Missouri fans rooting for KU against anyone. It's dated back to the civil war and still lives on today. I take that back. I did root for Kansas to beat Texas.

I was at that game with my UGA fan brother and my Valdosta State fan sister, wearing a UGA shirt and an LSU hat
