Marijuana is a gateway drug. Been proven for many years now. Alcohol is also a gateway drug but is socially acceptable and is not illegal. You are confusing correlation with causality. Of course heroin addicts and coke heads started with weed. It's the cheapest and most accessible drug there is. So when asking a meth head what the first drug he tried was, 99% of the time it will be weed. This DOES NOT make it a gateway drug. I know many people who have tried weed and have zero desire to try hardcore drugs. If weed didn't exist, those that abuse heroin, coke, etc. would still abuse them.
