When 100,000 people live, every week, and millions via television, radio and internet, focus nearly 100% of their attention for 3 months out of the year to a football team comprised of young men 18-23 - anything like this is going to be scrutinized.

The board admins here do a good job of balancing freedom of expression, with pure rumor-mongering. MANY threads were whacked until more reputable sources picked it up. Pardon the expression, but there is definitely smoke to this fire. What are we supposed to do -NOT talk about it on game week? Not talk about it in the 2 weeks prior to the Bama game?

You are aware this is a college (primarily football) sports message board? This isn't news to you, right Cal?

I don't mind the intense scrutiny on the athletes and truth be told they revel in attention (maybe that is why they are prime time sportsmen).

The talk about suspensions and the effect on the team and games is fine for a sports board - but should we not curtail ourselves when it comes to actual accusations being thrown at these players when we don't know the truth?

You seem to agree with the clipping and toning down of the accusations as well.

We can talk about the loss of Mathieu at CB - but why hypothesize on whether it was ganja or cocaine!

Rant about change in secondary play and "woe is us" but that doesn't give the right to castigate Simon on his personal choices - he is paying the price for it from the folks to whom he is accountable.

Yes the Offense has to change and we can play select the RB game now but wondering (both on the Rant and SECr)about the nature of his violent playing and the roots being in drugs is just pure garbage unworthy of anyone let alone targeted at a 20 year old player.

Also fair - we all need to continue to pump the brakes and allow the system some time and space in which to operate.

Agree with you on that as well

Bobby Hebert was on radio yesterday reporting it was ganja...he has a son on the team, the son likely told him what happened, Hebert opened his mouth. Connect the dots. You could argue that they don't know (and maybe they don't) but the fact that they've already gone public with their thoughts (along with tons of other media) is what's fueling the speculation, not posters on Tiger Rant.
