Is there any reason to change LSU's dual-quarterback strategy?

Is this one of those situations where "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"? Or should the Tigers want 1 guy in the starter role?
Trying to make sense of LSU's quarterback situation

Was the situation before JJ came back.
It was definitely broke for the past couple of years.

Well we have some whining pussys on here that are constantly crying about it. I suppose if we went away from the 2 qb system they would shut up finally. Thats one reason right there.

We seemed to do OK those first 4 games without dual QBs. Doesn't seem necessary, but Miles is a demented genius, so who knows.

My biggest concern has been seeing the offense sputter out once Jefferson was brought in. In other words, he comes in for a series, then the offense (Lee and Jefferson) has trouble moving the ball and putting points on the board from that point on. I have seen no indications of either of these things happening, so no reason to change IMO.

wasn't that the case the first 4 games of the season?

The logical repsonse would be, "Was there a problem with Lee at QB that needed to be fixed by inserting Jefferson?"
Could it be argued that Lee as the starter needs to get as many reps as possible reading defenses, interpreting coverages, & getting comfortable in that role?
I think that we only pulled Jefferson when he played worse than dogsh!t last year, and yet we pull Lee out after a run-run-pass series where we're blown up on 1st & 2nd down. When Jefferson goes in, he's immediately given vertical pass routes early in his series.
I've seen some disparity in playcalling options that could-by those with the right mindset-be used to construe that playcalling helped dictate a less successful drive which meant the explanation for inserting Jefferson was more easily made afterward.
One could also point to Miles' strange explanation for Jefferson starting the 2nd half in Knoxville by saying the decision was made easier since we were pinned at the 1 yard line & he gives us better options there. Which while most agree with as a practical matter, most would also wonder why he neglected to mention that wasn't when Jefferson went in...it was the drive prior to that to start the half where we started with excellent field position.
This insertion and usage of Jordan is nothing like Miles prior substitution patterns. Quite inconsistent in fact.
Then again, when Jordan goes in Miles states that "he has the whole playbook" when in reality JJ's thrown 4 passes. One of which was an orchestrated jump-pass against UF. So saying that is again somewhat disingenuous.
The truth is Miles has favorites like any coach, and for several years Jordan has been Miles' favorite. Again, as a practical matter getting Jordan reps helps keep JJ's mental focus where it needs to be. As well as improves team morale while also being productive in terms of on-field performance.
The ancillary benefit of making LSU more multiple for future defensive schemes against our offense is welcome as well.
I think there's a method with Miles. I like some of the motivations behind it. Others I think are simply Miles being like any coach on the planet. They like certain players. Just happens.
That's just my $0.02 on the matter.

I think we should all be happy that we have two senior QBs and leave it at that.
Let go of the last year scenario since its not last year, and look at how both QBs are more complete.
Watch the TN game again and what we can see is that when one formation (the I) "strategy" doesn't work as well as we like, we can quickly switch to another (O spread). I view the switch at half-time as a way that Miles and the coaches wanted to eat more clock, so they spread the O for more running lanes.
This is not last year, i think we should look at it like our running back situation where we have multiple threats.
Cant wait to AUBURN!

Maybe Miles is worried about how well Lee will respond to a Bama pass rush.
Would it be safe to say that LSU's o-line has had the upper hand if not dominating every defensive front that they have faced all season long?
Do you feel confident that the o-line will have the same success vs Bama's d-line and linebackers?
We've seen the awesome Lee when given adequate to great protection and then we've seen the ugly Lee when he is under constant pressure with no time to throw and an inability to tuck and run. Jefferson having game experience and offering another way to counter a disgusting pass rush is a damn fine insurance policy if you ask me.

I think in a way that Les focusing too much on each players "specific skill-set" forces them to go out there and be put in a position to only do those things which specifically suit them more than the other guy, which results in 2 QB's who each know how to do 1 thing, but neither could adequately do what they were obviously weaker at (Lee-running for a couple yards every now and then and delivering blows, Jefferson-throwing). So its almost like you have half a QB when they go out there, or not a complete QB. I don't really like it, but I am not the coach.

The coaching staff has tried to make JJ into a passing QB but he couldn't seem to develop the accuracy that is required of a passer. We've seen the staff use Lee on some designed QB run plays and they were unbearable to watch. JJ and Lee are who they are and the coaching staff has figured out ways to work around it. We all hope that Mett, Randall, Rivers, whoever will be a future QB for LSU offer more versatility such as a Flynn or a Perriloux.

I, for one, want to thank you for the fix. It is a little realized, even less admitted fact, but QB controversy threads are really the crack of the Rant. This place is totally hooked on them.
Heck, I bet there were a few posters here who were about to go off into the DT's if a few more minutes had passed without a thread like this.
Oh, and for the record, the fact that you are an Oct. 2011 register with hardly any posts to your name and jump right in with this topic is not suspicious at all.
You saved some people today dude. Be proud.
