re: For how long has the LSU helmet had the gold/yellow hue currently being used?

LSU had old gold helmets through the Gus Tinsley years which ended in 1954. In 1955 when Dietzel was hired, the yellow gold helmets were adopted. As a matter of fact, the color became known as "Dietzel Gold" in uniform catalogues. Another interesting fact is that the GB Packers adopted the gold color as is evident today.
