this comment stolen from Tuesday Morning QB

in order to save civilization, they go back in time 85 million years
- why go back so far? a few thousand or even a few hundred would have changed society
-why go back and live amongst man eating dinosaurs
- and probably most important- why go back to a time before a massive meteor whiped out almost all life on earth

Also, wouldn't going back in time that far affect the future?

Is the base commander that I have seen in commercials the same guy from Avatar? He looks exactly the same and sounds exactly the same.

Is this the new phenomenon known as serving the narrative at the expense of reason?

Such a peculiar recent development in visual media.

Seriously though, has Tuesday Morning Quarterback seen the pilot yet? Perhaps they didn't intend to go back so far in time.

Just a hunch, but knowing the genre in general and the creators of this specifically, i'm pretty sure in the series finale it will be revealed that it wasn't a meteor that killed the dinosaurs etc, but rather the ramifications of the Terra Nova experiment itself.

Thus no record of it, so everyone is unaware when the loop repeats and people are sent back -> lift destroyed, cycle repeats etc.

I'm going to DVR just to see how they answer these questions. On the surface, it looks like a mess.

I know nothing about the show other than what is presented in the promos and these were the two questions that immediately popped into my head.

It will be interesting to see if they attempt to explain it in the initial episode or make the questions part of the show's enigma quality.

Any show with Allison Miller in it gets my attention. She was in Kings.

I actually liked this show. Off the top of my head:

1. The beginning scenes the show set in a dystopian future were the best parts.
2. The wild girl said those markings on the rocks "look like some sort of equations or something" - good thing the middle daughter is a super math genius.
3. I suspect Avatar guy's son is going to be a Sixer, but I'm not sure how nefarious they really are. They have to have a motive.
4. As mentioned, a major plot hole is the weaponry being used. They have a laser the size of a thumb drive that can slice through metal and apparently a power source. Seems these futuristic folks should have no problem tracking and killing dinosaurs. Especially considering the machinery they must be carrying around for construction.
