The politicians have no say in the matter either way. There is not some legal or regulatory hurdle toward having a playoff. These contributions are likely to help these slimy bowl officals get some benefit for themselves which has notthing to do with the merits of having a playoff vs bowls.

Are you kidding? You don't think that representatives in Washington are in on this? They had Congressional hearings on the BCS a few years ago. I also remember Idaho's Senators getting involved a few years back pushing for Boise to get into a BCS bowl.

If you don't think the politicians can grease the wheels for or against a playoff, your insane.
