Last night On HBO's Real Sports with Bryant Gumbel, allegations were revealed concerning the Sugar Bowl giving contributions to politicians. Might result in a little fallout. Anything in the local papers about this today, or is this old news?

I saw that as well. I was looking for some fallout, but maybe they are acting swiftly to clear it up, as Goldberg mentioned in the piece.
It really is a sham that the bowls qualify for tax exempt status and then do very little direct "giving back" to the community. But I would imagine unless it is so exorbitant (Fiesta Bowl) that mamy will turn a blind eye to it because the big bowl games are such a HUGE draw and money maker.
Sadly, after watching the show, it showed me just how hard it will be to ever have a true playoff in college because of the money and clout all of the major bowls carry. They can pay the big bucks to keep politicians and college presidents on their side. I am convinced now that any type of playoff will have to be done within the bowl system.

The Sugar Bowl didn't do anything. Officals that work for the Sugar Bowl are alleged to have given illegal campaign contributions. Those officals may be in trouble.
Meanwhile, the we want a playoff crybaby medie will continue to beat the drum about how bad the bowl system is.

If the Fiesta bowl didn't lose its status over that fiasco I'm thinking that the Sugar Bowl will be fine.
