Ok so I just watched all of S1 a few weeks ago and REALLY like this show. I haven't seen anything past the S1 finale though...is it crucial for me to watch S2, or can I go ahead and watch S3?

not crucial, but you're doing yourself a real disservice if you don't. you'll miss a few things, for sure.

Sweet mother of god... I should have given this show more of a chance. Only watched the first episode.

you are missing out. Just the paintball episode alone is considered one of the best episodes in tv history.

i agree with everything CP3LSU25 has said in this thread. when it wasn't nominated the first season based on the strength of the first paintball ep alone i was actually angry. its not afraid to buck trends and is possibly one of the most innovative shows since Arrested Development (and i know half the board hate AD, ha, but still)
ETA: hell, the genius of the show was solidified by the ep where Abed had an entire storyline contained within the background. self reverential without being meta...good god i have such a boner for this show,

the dungeon and dragons episode was epic and the one you were talking about with Abed and there are so many other ones.
